2020 Barbera d’Alba “Serra de Gatti” – Barbera from Roero is relatively unusual; it only excels in Priocca, a village close to Barbaresco that has a higher concentration of clay than most of Roero. Serra de Gatti comes from a vineyard of the same name and is a fun, juicy and fruity expression that plays to the strengths of Barbera made without agenda. Mouthwatering acidity keeps the exuberant fruit in check, leading to a highly versatile Barbera and a bit of a go-to wine.
