Terzini Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is an Italian red wine.
In the rugged but fertile countryside of Abruzzo, the Terzini family's winemaking story began with Aldo Terzini, a man of humble origins whose passion for viticulture planted the seeds for a legacy that would span generations. His son, Domenico, transformed that initial vision, expanding the estate from 6 to 28 hectares and nurturing the family's commitment to expressing the authentic character of this storied region. Today, Terzini wines are crafted in an ultra-modern facility complemented by a charming tasting room, and their bottles are appreciated around the world—a testament to the family's dedication to quality and tradition.
This Montepulciano d'Abruzzo embodies the care and craftsmanship that defines the Terzini approach. The fruit comes from pergola-trained vines, an ancient training system where the canopy shades the grapes from Abruzzo's intense mountain sunshine, allowing for slow, even ripening. The grapes are manually harvested into small crates to preserve their integrity, then gently soft-pressed. Maceration extends for a minimum of three weeks, extracting optimal color, tannin, and flavor, before the wine matures for twelve months in stainless steel and an additional six months in tonneau, adding subtle complexity while respecting the varietal character.
Tasting Notes:
In the glass, the wine displays an intense ruby color with vibrant purple hues that speak to its youth and vitality. The nose is both complex and intense—waves of mature red fruit (black cherry, plum, and raspberry) intertwine with smoky spice notes of tobacco, black pepper, and a hint of leather. On the palate, the wine reveals its serious structure: firm tannic grip provides backbone without aggression, while excellent balance carries the rich fruit flavors through a long, satisfying finish. The full-bodied mouthfeel is generous and warming, with layers of dark fruit, earthy undertones, and that persistent smoky spice that lingers beautifully.
This is a wine that honors both the Montepulciano grape and the Abruzzese terroir—bold, structured, and deeply satisfying.
