Handcrafted by Massachusetts artisan, Colby Smith, these distinctive door knockers are hand crafted primarily with rocks gathered from Atlantic coast beaches. Other sources include rivers and lakes or wherever wind and water has worn the stone’s surface. The rocks are cut with a diamond saw, shaped and polished on a lapidary wheel to bring out the stone’s color. The rocks are set with epoxy into sand cast brass frames. Sometimes the frame is embellished to echo characteristics in the rock. When possible, the rocks are identified by type and origin and dated and signed by Colby Smith.
