Westport River's world famous Champagne Method is a new vintage! Spectacular white grapefruit, vanilla bean ice cream, and savory toasted sesame play out amid the typical and familiar to many "RJR" profile of lemon brioche, apple bread pudding, and waves of caramel with delicate ginger on the finish. Tiny bubbles grace the sip, while umami glutamates, a chemistry that can only happen with enough time in our cellars before we riddle and disgorge, lends a depth that’s mesmerizing. Having passed the spicy kimchi test at Simjang in Worcester (it was recently their by-the-glass sparkling), the RJR can handle the “from canapes to curry” gambit. But you really haven’t had a burger until you’ve had it with Champagne.

This sparkler is said to have been a favorite of Julia Child and has been served many times in the White House.

About Westport Rivers

The Russell family vineyard is located in Coastal Westport Massachusetts where they have been growing Vinifera grapes since 1986. The Atlantic Northeast’s cool maritime climate and their farm’s rich soils layered with granite over glacial outwash consistently provide them with a balance of luscious fruit and bright acidity at harvest.

At the heart of their mission is the Russell Family’s belief that theye are stewards of both land and possessions; that these are not truly owned, but rather are temporarily gifted and to be used in a fashion honoring those who came before and those who follow afterward. Their family is committed to use this South Coast farmland both for agricultural products (including food, wine and beer) and for education (about the value of working natural resources).

Westport Rivers Winery and Buzzards Bay Brewing was founded upon this deep regard for local agriculture and education. Over the years the Russell Family has permanently preserved 400 acres of working farmland and forest.

"There are no wines on the planet that go better with our abundance of local seafood than those grown at Westport Rivers"
