Live Music Series

Live Music Series

We are thrilled to present a Live Music Series, September 12-15 at The Drawing Room. You’re invited inside our shop to listen to a series of intimate performances in a casual environment surrounded by art.

Musicians from the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra will join us on Thursday, September 12 at 4m for a Sonata Saturday “ENCORE” performance.

NBSO musicians Elisa Birdseye, viola, and Stefan Gabriel, cello, have prepared an interesting and diverse program for this duo performance.
They are presenting a selection of music from various centuries and countries.
Enjoy the rich tone of these two instruments from the string family of the orchestra.
This Encore Sonata Saturday performance is in celebration of AHA! @ 25, AHA! New Bedford’s 25th birthday celebration.

On Friday, September 13 we will host Kathi Taylor & Bob Dunlap, an acoustic duo 4pm-6pm.

Robert Emmet Dunlap was born in South Boston, The Irish Riviera, where, early in his career, he was a founding member of popular local rock bands, The Boston Mass, Hummit, and Newsboy.

Bob's partner, Kathi Taylor (drums, percussion, vocals), has roots in the midwest, New England and California. As a member of several bands and as a freelance musician in Los Angeles, and now, in New England, she has played a variety of musical styles: rock, blues, Cajun, Zydeco, country, jazz and Irish.

Saturday, September 14, we will host Brenda & Dan Roveda, musicians friends of ours from our Marion days.

An acoustic duo; Brenda Roveda (lead vocals/guitar) and Dan Roveda (Lead Guitar/vocals) will perform live at The Drawing Room, 4pm-6pm. Enjoy the performance before venturing out into downtown New Bedford for a fun-filled Saturday evening.

Sunday, September 15, artist & musician Butch McCarthy wraps up the series, 1pm - 3pm.

Butch McCarthy has painted since he was a boy and dabbled in the arts off and on between a music career and other pursuits. It was not until he retired that he found the time to get serious about his art, painting every day as a form of meditation.

This is a free live music series, but please RSVP to save your seat!

This program is funded in part by a grant from the New Bedford Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
