Inspire Kids with Artful Spaces
It’s never too early to introduce your kids to art. Here are a few ways to use color, whimsy, and the alphabet to create artful spaces for kids.
COLOR
You don’t need to be an artist to paint a beautiful room for your children to enjoy for years to come. Our friends at Farrow & Ball have plenty of colors and ideas to inspire you.
In the inspiration room above, Farrow & Ball uses four shades of blue. Blocks of color behind the head boards define the space for each bed and add a note of whimsy to this charming space.
Colors used in this room scheme: St. Giles Blue No.280, Cook's Blue No.237, Stiffkey Blue No.281 & Lulworth Blue No.89
This playful room experiments with proportions and locations of bold paint colors, taking advantage of the room’s paneling. And remember, “you don’t need any special architectural details to recreate the look at home – just use masking tape to create clean lines when adding more than one colour to a plain wall.”
Colors used in this room scheme: Pale Powder No. 204, De Nimes No. 299, & Preference Red No. 297

WHIMSY
Have you ever seen a piece of furniture wearing striped socks?
Scott Currier’s whimsical cabinets are perfect for keeping things tidy in a nursery or playroom.
These are artful pieces of furniture that can grow with your kids.
Scott has been creating historic reproductions of traditional American furniture, or unique one-of-a-kind contemporary pieces, as expressions of his craftsmanship and ability to turn unfinished wood into things of beauty.
Scott Currier has over 40 years of experience in building residential kitchens, office and restaurant furniture, library cabinetry and home furnishings.
Stop by the Drawing Room to see the striped socks cabinet in person!
Some of the best childhood memories are made playing outside.
Watch your little ones run around the yard from the comfort of Paul Trenouth's Adirondack chairs.
Paul is known as the "Trellisman" and in addition to these whimsical chairs, he also creates beautiful trellises, pergolas, and estate birdhouses.
His stunning designs will become pieces you and your family will enjoy for years to come.
The Alphabet
Teach children their ABCs with “A Fine Book of Letters,” a beautifully illustrated journey through the alphabet.
Carol Way Wood’s classic book is an artful way to teach kids their letters. It’s the perfect story to read to little ones or give as a gift for new and expectant parents.
The book's illustrations also come as individual letter prints. Pick initials or spell out words with these stunning letters and their animal friends.
Letter prints come matted and ready to be framed and hung on your walls.
Carol also creates beautiful birth announcements, which make the perfect gift for new parents welcoming a little one into the world.
The love of art can start at any age. So stop by The Drawing Room and see what inspires you!
