A new chapter is just around the corner

A new chapter is just around the corner

UPDATE: We have officially moved into our new location! Join us for our Grand Re-Opening Celebration on Saturday, May 28th from 10am-6pm. More details here.

Almost three years to the day, I opened my shop and architecture office in historic downtown New Bedford. I knew it was a good fit for my business, but I didn’t realize how much I would love this community of business owners, neighbors, artists, musicians, and institutions who make this neighborhood the vibrant place it is today.

As my vision for The Drawing Room began to outgrow the size of my storefront, our neighbor Tia Maria’s was also planning its own expansion, including the purchase of the current shop location. When you’re so invested in your community and neighborhood, where do you go next? The answer was clear: just around the corner.

The Drawing Room will be moving to 22 William Street, across from the entrance of the New Bedford Whaling Museum. You may already be familiar with this location. It’s where the Arthur Moniz Gallery thrived for over 20 years. Arthur’s family decided to close the gallery at the end of February while keeping an online presence. After meeting with Cheryl Moniz, I’m pleased to share that The Drawing Room will help continue Arthur’s legacy by offering a collection of his original paintings, prints and greeting cards, in addition to being a local pickup location for the Moniz Gallery’s online shop orders. More details to come.

When is all this happening?
It’s going to take some time, but we are currently preparing 22 William Street for our arrival. Priming, painting (a Farrow & Ball color palette, of course), and thinking through many details. Until then, we are open at our current location at 36 N. Water Street and online at anthif.com/shop. In the coming weeks, make sure you stop by to bid farewell to our first New Bedford location, and help us pen our next chapter in our new location.

You’re invited!
Join us for a wine tasting on Saturday April 9th from 1-4pmWe’ll toast to our 3rd anniversary in New Bedford and celebrate our next chapter. Please note: the tasting will take place at our current shop location at 36 N. Water Street.

With gratitude
I would like to thank you for your continued support of me, my work, and my vision for my business and this neighborhood. By supporting me, you're also supporting dozens of our region's talented artists. To our artists, I am forever grateful that you trust me to share and represent your work.

Yours in Art & Architecture,
