Open 7 days a week at 22 William Street in historic downtown New Bedford
My creative work seeks to express the vibrancy, texture, and personality of my community. I have been creating place-based art for over 10 years, and use my art to connect with schools, summer camps, libraries, community groups, local cultural councils, and individuals.
A "successful" creative piece for me is one that garners a reaction of recognition and personal attachment from a viewer. I want people to see their neighborhoods, schools, friends, and natural environments in my art and writing. My art is meaningful to people locally while reflecting more ubiquitous themes like belonging, curiosity, and connection.
In my collages, I use paper that has relevance to my subject, such as city maps, menus, student artwork, newspapers, etc. The details of the paper add depth and layers of meaning to my drawing and painting and provide more opportunities for viewer connection.
It all starts with an idea, full of potential, and ready to be transformed. Let's discover what we can create together.
